60 Short Days, 30 Long Tasks....Crazy?

Happy Sunday to you.

I've been out of the blogosphere for a few days now dealing with quite a bit of work related stress.  Although I'm excited about the upcoming changes, the procuring of funds in order to make them happen as well as finding the time to complete it all at the same time we are finishing up the house, is, well, about at stress-free as giving birth...

...to twins...

....in a Smart car...

...on the interstate...

...at rush hour...

...in Los Angeles.

So yeah, there has been a whole heckuva lot on my mind lately.  However, I will not let work stress totally ruin my excitement towards the house.  We had originally been aiming for December 1st as our move in date.  We had wanted to have Christmas in the house, but at the same time, I didn't want to be moving boxes, or a Christmas tree, the few days preceding Christmas, so we thought December 1st was a good time. Plus it's my husbands birthday, so being able to move into our beautiful new home would totally be an awesome enough reason to get me out of having to buy a gift.

It seems however, that December 1st is just not going to happen.  We are a bit behind schedule as it is, plus we will be leaving for California in a week to visit my mom who lives there.  We will be there for 5 days.

Ashley, you are crazy to be taking a week off given your tight deadline... Stupidhead.

We had originally thought that we would have drywall completed the week before we left, and that our trim guy whom my husband had traded work with, would be able to come into the house while we were gone and could get started without any other distractions...

Not. Gonna. Happen.

We leave in 5 days, and we don't have drywall.
We don't have insulation.
We don't have all the heating and air ductwork completed.
We don't have inspections...

So, at this point, we will be lucky if we even get the inspections completed before we go.

So, we accepted that were indeed several weeks behind our initial schedule, and decided that we will just keep plugging away to the best of our abilities.  We also realized that we may not be in the new house for Christmas like we had planned....

...Until my mom called the other day and said she was coming back to stay with us for Christmas in the new house...

*queue the beads of sweat and stomach ulcer*

Ok, ok, we can do this. We can get it done...

I know I could have just told her that we probably won't be done by our original deadline, but I personally feel like I function better when I have a set due date for a project.  If it were left up to me to choose the deadline, this would probably happen quite a bit....

Laziness is best represented through a cat photo.

So I told my mom "Sounds good! We would love to have you back to stay with us for Christmas!!"
and then I turned to my husband and told him the news...

yep, that about nails the look he gave me...

So, now, with my mom coming, we have a new plan.  We will give ourselves until December 20th to finish the house, get the thing closed on, and be free to officially start moving in.  I plan to have everything in our current house boxed and ready to move by that day, and so help me, it's gonna happen....
